6.2 Consent

  • a user consents to the use of non-essential cookies or similar technologies, including analytics and marketing cookies; or
  • applicable law otherwise requires consent for particular processing activities.

Where processing is based on consent, consent may be withdrawn at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

6.3 Legitimate interests

Personal information may be processed where necessary for the legitimate interests of Slightly Technical LLC or a third party, provided such interests are not overridden by the rights and freedoms of the individual. These interests may include:

  • operating and improving the website and Services;
  • protecting the Services from misuse, fraud, or security threats;
  • understanding usage patterns and improving product relevance;
  • maintaining business records;
  • administering communications with users; and

6.4 Legal obligations

Personal information may be processed where necessary to comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations, including accounting, tax, record-keeping, law enforcement, and lawful disclosure requirements.

Payment card data is not stored directly by Slightly Technical LLC unless explicitly stated otherwise. Payment processors may independently collect and process payment-related information in accordance with their own privacy notices and legal obligations.

8. Membership, Authentication, and Access Management

User account registration, authentication, plan management, and access to restricted content may be handled through third-party providers, including Memberstack. However, certain advertising or analytics practices may be treated as “sharing” or similar regulated activity under some privacy laws, and the Company will honour applicable rights where such laws apply.

12. International Transfers

Because Slightly Technical LLC operates globally and relies on service providers located in multiple jurisdictions, personal information may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from countries other than the country in which the individual resides, including the United States and other jurisdictions where the Company or its service providers operate.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international data transfers, Slightly Technical LLC will rely on appropriate measures made available by relevant providers or recognised under applicable law, which may include contractual safeguards or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

13. Data Retention

Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

In general:

  • account and access information may be retained for as long as the account remains active and for a reasonable period thereafter;
  • purchase, transaction, and financial records may be retained for longer periods where necessary for accounting, tax, audit, or legal compliance purposes;
  • marketing data may be retained until the individual unsubscribes, withdraws consent, or the data is no longer required;
  • technical logs, security records, and cookie-consent records may be retained for a limited period appropriate to security, troubleshooting, and compliance needs; and
  • where data is no longer needed, it may be deleted, anonymised, or securely archived as appropriate.

While retention periods may vary depending on category and purpose, the Company generally aims not to retain ordinary personal information longer than is reasonably necessary and, where appropriate, may review inactive data after approximately two years.

14. Data Security

Slightly Technical LLC implements reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure, or unauthorised access. Such measures may include access controls, vendor management, secure service providers, and other safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information processed.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, no system, platform, or transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Individuals therefore provide information at their own risk to the extent permitted by law.

15. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 16, and Slightly Technical LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If the Company becomes aware that personal information relating to a child under 16 has been collected without appropriate authorisation, the Company will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise that information as appropriate.

16. External Platforms and Communities

The Company may from time to time invite users to participate in external community platforms, such as Discord. Participation in such platforms is voluntary. Personal information processed through those external platforms is subject primarily to the privacy practices and terms of the relevant third-party provider. Users should review the applicable policies of those external services before participating.

17. Privacy Rights

Depending on the individual’s location and applicable law, the individual may have certain rights in relation to personal information, which may include the right to:

  • request access to personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information;
  • request deletion of personal information in appropriate circumstances;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to certain processing activities;
  • request portability of certain personal information;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • request information about categories of data collected, used, disclosed, or shared; and
  • lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority or regulator where applicable.

Slightly Technical LLC seeks to apply privacy protections globally and to honour additional rights granted under local law where such rights apply.

To exercise privacy rights, please contact: privacy@slightlytechnical.rs

The Company may request information necessary to verify identity before acting on a request. This is done to protect personal information and ensure that rights are exercised only by the appropriate individual or authorised representative.

18. Do Not Track

The website may not respond to browser-based “Do Not Track” signals in a uniform manner, as no universally accepted standard for such signals currently exists. Users may instead manage cookie preferences through the cookie preference tools made available on the website, where applicable.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Slightly Technical LLC reserves the right to amend or update this Privacy Policy at any time in order to reflect changes in legal requirements, business practices, website functionality, or service providers. Any revised version will be posted on the website with an updated “Last updated” date. Where required by law, appropriate notice of material changes will be provided.
